Billy Klein is a sarcastic, cynical teen who's convinced his life is one big cosmic joke. He's bullied at school, despises his stepfather, hates his teachers, and has zero respect for authority. All Billy wants is to survive senior year and escape the suffocating West Virginia town that's held him prisoner his whole life.Further up the Appalachians, in the even smaller town of Davy, lives Bernieke Fitts—an impoverished, sheltered boy raised and homeschooled by his enigmatic mother. Her unconventional teaching methods have left Bernieke dangerously unprepared for the real world. When a single act of charity pulls them into West Virginia's biggest lottery scandal, one will emerge as the Angel of Appalachia—the other, a wanted fugitive. As overzealous lawyers and ambitious politicians clash over their fate, unlikely friendships blossom. And as the world watches the battle between what's right and what's legal, Billy fights to survive the mounting pressure threatening to destroy his and his girlfriend's future. Read more
