Freedom Coast SRAM Brake Levers

Building on a tried and true braking system is tough. SRAM has worked towards perfection for over a decade to make their family of brakes among the best in the world. As good as the SRAM braking system is, the stock lever had room for improvement. 

Our engineering team has spent thousands of hours riding, testing, and analyzing the SRAM braking system to see what we could do to improve it. The stock levers are stamped or cast (depending on the model) which was not giving us the stiffness we desire. There are other inherent traits to using levers made from these methods, such as needing more tolerance between the lever blade and body. The stock levers also must be made to work for everybody, from the first time novice to the 7 days a week rider. With the needs of the serious rider in mind, our goals of increased stiffness, decreased slop, and better ergonomics for single finger braking drove the need for a custom lever.

We start with a solid bar of aerospace grade 6061 aluminum, and we mill this material to tight tolerances at our in-house machine shop. The levers are hand polished and anodized to colors that we have worked hard to perfect.

The design of our CNC machined levers has allowed us to greatly increase the stiffness of the lever blade, which helps with one of the biggest complaints with the SRAM brakes, which is a mushy feel. We also designed a more aggressive curve to the lever to cradle your finger so that you are able to ride with a more relaxed grip, thus reducing hand fatigue and arm pump. We also added texture on the face of the lever to improve feel, giving you the sensation of knowing exactly where your finger is on the lever at all times. We also hold our levers to a tighter tolerance than the stock levers, which allows us to get rid of much of the play between the lever blade and body. Our shape, texture, and rigidity improves ergonomics and stiffness resulting in a more controlled and consistent braking system.

These levers are direct replacement for the stock SRAM levers on almost all models!
